Who is behind The Bankademy Manual...

At Barkademy, we believe that doggy daycare can (and should) be more than cuddles and chaos. It should be calm, structured, enriching - and run by a confident team that knows their stuff. That’s where we come in.

Barkademy was created by Melita and Martin, a duo with decades of hands-on experience in animal care, enrichment, and natural wellness.

Melita holds an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy, a Diploma in Animal Nutrition, a Diploma in Animal Behaviour, and a Certification in Dog Training. She is an enrichment expert whose professional journey started in 1989 running a naturopathic clinic for humans and dogs. Her expertise soon extended beyond the clinic, becoming a weekly regular guest on Adelaide’s 5AA radio station for 4 years, sharing natural remedies for pets and their people. She has lectured widely, published articles in her field and gained international experience - including studying behavioural grooming in the USA and later trained along side professional animal handlers with the Great Moscow Circus. This unique combination of clinical knowledge and hands-on animal experience helped shape her nuanced understanding of behaviour, trust, and instinct.

Today, Melita shares her specialised skills with other animal professionals across Australia, especially in the fields of enrichment, grooming and doggy daycare training.

Martin brings over 20 years experience in the natural animal care industry, having managed a successful natural care product manufacturing business in Adelaide. His expertise lies in developing safe, effective animal care products, with a strong emphasis on holistic wellness and nutrition. Collaborating closely with Melita, he has played a pivotal role in supporting animal wellbeing through practical, science informed solutions.

Together, they founded pDOG Lifestyle Centre, a thriving doggy daycare, grooming salon, and grooming academy, where enrichment is more than a buzzword - it’s baked into the daily routine.
